The joke that turned dinner time chaos into connection time.

Why Did The Chicken? isn’t just a joke book — it’s a confidence-building comedy challenge for kids aged 4–8 (and a front-row seat for you).My son was desperate to get my attention at the dinner table.“Daddy, I’ve got a joke to tell you!”I look up from my phone. “Go for it.”He grins.“What do you call someone who farts? A poo poo head!”He laughs so hard he nearly falls off his chair... Tumbleweed enters our house, and the rest of us just smile."Was that funny daddy?"I think for a second, not wanting to offend him, before smiling at him. "Sort of... but how about this instead?"So I tell my joke — with a real setup and killer punchline."What did the nose say to the finger?"
Putting my finger up my nose, I looked him dead in the eyes and said in a nasal voice.
"Quit picking on me!He laughs so hard that literal snot flies out of his nose! The whole table cracks up — half laughing, half horrified!“That was way better than mine! Do you know any more?”It wasn't the best joke in the world, and I'm far from a stand-up comedian, but it certainly sparked his attention. On a roll, I continue...“Knock, knock.”
He freezes, no idea what to say next.
So I explain how a knock-knock joke works and ask again.
He tries once more —
“Knock knock.”
“Who’s there?”
“Interrupting Cow.”
“Interrupting C—”
“MOOOOOOOOO!”
My two-year-old howls with laughter. He kept mooing for the rest of the evening — and then started telling the joke himself! That’s when I realised I was onto something. Kids don’t just want to tell jokes — they want to perform them.A couple of simple jokes had turned a dull evening into one full of fun, connection and confidence!

Our seven-year-old absolutely loves this book. It had him laughing from the first page, and the jokes are very funny, age-appropriate, and easy to understand. What we enjoy most is how excited he is to retell the jokes to family and friends, often repeating them throughout the day. It’s been great to see him so engaged and reading just for fun.
